croup

A common condition in babies and small children in which narrowing and inflammation of the airways causes hoarseness, heavy breathing and cough.

A blue-ish discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes due to insufficient oxygen in the blood and often seen best in the lips and nails. It may be central, due to heart and lung conditions, or peripheral, due to restricted circulation in the extremities.

A genetic disorder characterised by a tendency to develop chronic lung infections and an inability to absorb fats and other essential nutrients from food.

cystic hygroma

A birth defect due to abnormal development of lymphatic tissue causing a swelling in the neck. It may be found at birth or cause problems later. Sometimes it is detected on an ultrasound examination during pregnancy

Inflammation of the bladder.

A swelling in the vagina that is formed when the bladder pushes against weakened tissue in the vaginal wall.

An instrument inserted up into the urethra (the tube allowing urine to flow out of the body from the bladder) in order to examine the bladder.
