Screw COVID-19 lockdown, I got my own jet
According to the BBC ' Who is still flying? and a Times newspaper report 'Hundreds of private jets fly into UK from coronavirus hotspots', the UK (unlike other European countries) has allowed in 554 private jets since lockdown from COVID-19 hotspots. In addition, 15,000 people are still arriving every day on standard flights into UK airports.
This raises all sorts of questions over just how seriously the pandemic, setting of example and the implementation of policy is actually being taken.
For example:
Is this a case of one policy for one part of the population, and another policy for those people who are more equal than others?
Are those people coming into the UK paying an additional COVID-19 tax to pay for the additional costs to the NHS (not to mention private funeral costs)?
