Mr Vijay Sangar is a Consultant Urologist and Urological Surgeon who treats at the Christie Clinic, Manchester as well as the Pall Mall Medical Centre and Spire Hospital, Manchester. He is a specialist in penile surgery and is the Lead Clinician in the Northwest of the UK for sexual dysfunction. He also treats male infertility, bladder cancer, prostate cancer and kidney cancer.
In addition to his expertise in penile surgery he has been instrumental in advancing penile cancer imaging in the UK and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons’ Penile Sentinel Node Steering Committee as well as being a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.
Following a first class honours degree in Anatomy, Mr Sangar undertook a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) degree at the University of Manchester. Following qualification, Mr Sangar undertook research into bladder cancer at the Cancer Research UK Laboratories and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD). His specialist training in Urological Cancer Management was carried out at the Christie Hospital, Manchester and sub-specialised in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery during training at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and the Universitie Louis Pastuer, Strasburg, France.
