Q: I have a lump on the back of my neck. What could it be?

Answer:

It is unusual to have something sinister on the back of the neck. Most commonly fatty deposits ‘lipomas’ are found in the nape of the neck and have been present for quite some time. Also skin related pathologies such as cysts may be found here. Occasionally lymph nodes are seen here and most often related to problems related to the skin or hair of the scalp.
