Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet is pleased to be once more associated with his work rather than his illness. Following a pretty revolutionary procedure using a radiosurgical technique known as ‘stereotactic radiation’, Martin has made a fully recovery.
In a Gamma Knife® video interview, which includes his doctor, London Consultant Neurosurgeon Ian Sabin, Martin describes his shock at discovering not just one, but two brain tumours. The first tumour was under the skull, but on the surface of the brain and so relatively easily dealt with. However, the second was located in the centre of his brain. Martin goes on to explain that the recommended treatment he underwent using an earlier version of Gamma Knife - stereotactic radiation only lasted twenty minutes.
