Mr O’Toole studied medicine at Sheffield University and undertook further specialised plastic surgery training in Oxford, Sydney and Paris. He is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital in London. His main speciality within Plastic Surgery is ear reconstruction and he regularly travels around the world to operate on patients with ear deformity. He advises the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) on ear surgery and is a reviewer for the Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (JPRAS) on articles relating to plastic surgery of the ear. He has performed hundreds of prominent ear corrections.

Within the field of ear reconstruction it is a great privilege to be able to make a difference to the lives of patients, whether with a major ear reconstruction for congenital deformity or a routine prominent ear correction.
