As reported this week in the Telegraph, geo-engineering experiments to dim the sun will be granted permission by the Government within weeks. Solar geo-engineering refers to a set of proposed technologies designed to reduce global warming by reflecting a portion of incoming sunlight back into space.
Injecting chemicals into the atmosphere
The experiments will include outdoor trials injecting aerosols into the atmosphere or brightening clouds to reflect sunshine. The government's Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) has set aside £50 million for projects which will be announced in the coming weeks.
Professor Mark Symes, programme director for ARIA, said there would be, "small controlled outdoor experiments on particular approaches". However, according to what most of us can see in the skies for ourselves, and the sheer volume of evidential photos posted on social media, many people assumed the spraying actually started years ago.
It's big business
Indeed, the UK government has already poured millions into geo-engineering experiments through the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), investigating ways to dial down the sun’s rays.
Can our planet be 'fixed' simply like a malfunctioning App?
Despite the level of impact this activity will have on everybody, it would appear that the people get no say. The independent investigative journalist Dr Maryanne Demasi who writes for top tiered medical journals states, "A small group of technocrats, funded by billionaire zealots like Bill Gates, are treating the planet as if it were a malfunctioning app in need of another "update.""
She goes onto say, "We saw during Covid how easily governments bulldozed the principle of informed consent, coercing individuals into taking experimental vaccines under threat of exclusion and punishment. Now, with geo-engineering, the changes will be imposed on humans, animals, and plants — without any ability to opt out..."
The Mail Online reports that geo-engineering could make climate change worse by triggering destructive weather patterns.
Commercial strategy - once you start you can't stop
The technique is an incredibly 'risky strategy' with weather experts stating that this activity could, "wreak havoc on our weather patterns, triggering severe droughts or devastating cyclones". The study from Rutgers University in New Jersey found that suddenly halting so-called 'solar geo-engineering' would drastically accelerate climate change, with severe consequences for the planet's wildlife,
Professor Alan Robock says, "Rapid warming after stopping geo-engineering would be a huge threat to the natural environment and biodiversity. If geo-engineering ever stopped abruptly, it would be devastating, so you would have to be sure that it could be stopped gradually, and it is easy to think of scenarios that would prevent that".
He says, "Imagine large droughts or floods around the world that could be blamed on geo-engineering, and demands that it stop. Can we ever risk that?"
The list of serious questions is a long one.
What is the impact on the body's ability to produce essential levels of vitamin D in the absence of normal sunlight?
What would be the impact on photosynthesis and the current rate of 'global greening' as reported by NASA?
There are far too many unanswered questions for this to be a sensible policy. In any event man's attempts to mess with Mother Nature have a nasty habit of not turning out as forecast by so-called experts. The implications are too severe and so it is pretty astonishing that this kind of activity is even being considered - let alone implemented.
