With the latest advances it is now possible to remove the kidney tumour and only part of the kidney – a ‘partial nephrectomy’. These advances mean faster recovery times and the preservation of the kidney function. There is no longer the need to physically dissect the tissues from around the kidney or to cut into the kidney which used to cause a significant risk of bleeding.
Being minimally invasive, tumour ablation is very well tolerated, and the targetted treatment leaves the kidney in place.
