Q: I have a small, pea-sized lump on my neck. What could it be?

Answer:

For this it is always very hard to be sure of exactly what the diagnosis could be. If increasing in size, associated with smokers or other upper aerodigestive tract symptoms then it requires urgent investigations. If persistent then it also requires a careful history and then examination. Position of the lump is also important as it may well help towards knowing the structure involved in the pathology and therefore improve the accuracy of diagnosis.
